We’re very excited to announce that we’ll be releasing our second single, Shotgun Valentine, as a FREE download TODAY! Oct 12th 2009. We are also giving away a new song, Western Bridge, as an exclusive flip-side to the single.

All you will need to do to get the brand spanking new tracks is simply enter your email address at www.youanimals.bandcamp.com You don’t have to sign up for anything weird, we’d just like your email address so we can let you know when the next one comes out. Friendly.

In other exciting news; we’ve been holed up in Mook Studios in Leeds with Forward Russia head honcho, Whiskas, who has been recording and producing new YA tracks which we will be releasing as soon as we decide how we are going to put them out, we wanna do something special.

We have also just been added to the Huw Stephens curated SWN FESTIVAL in Cardiff, Wales on Friday Oct 23rd. We are playing at the Clwb Ifor Bach venue with Johnny Foreigner, Pulled Apart By Horses, Decimals etc and are very much looking forward to it! We will be announcing full tour dates as soon as they’re all confirmed but for now you can catch us live at the following shows:

Oct 18th – Manchester – Ritz
Oct 23rd – Cardiff – SWN Festival

Last weekend we ventured 2 hours up the old M1 to Leeds to record our next single with Whiskas (Forward Russia, Duels) at the controls. It sounds freaking mental, cant wait to get it out and about!
Mook studio was brilliant, Whiskas was a demon at getting sounds and ideas and we had a bloody brilliant time. hurrah!

Our debut single, Halfway to Heartbreak, is available NOW on 500 super-limited 7” CLEAR vinyl and download.

The records are beautifully packaged and each one is hand painted by us animals. Choosing a colour each we spray painted our way through the afternoon on a rare day off from our tour and we’re SO pleased with how they turned out, they’re real special. Each one has half a heart (get it?!) painted on the cover and is numbered and signed on the back by its creator.

Each vinyl comes with a link to download the mp3 versions of the songs for FREE so you may as well get the record and collect a special piece of You Animals history along the way!

We had barrels of fun and ate chips and icecreams on the beach (separate occasions – together would be horrific) watched some incredible bands (Sky Larkin, Johnny Foreigner, Idlewild, Decimals to name but a few!) Met some incredible people, and caught up with some much-missed old friends that we rarely get to see.
Me and Liza also got locked out of the room that the rest of YA were staying in and had to sleep in a halway. nice.

NEW You Animals video diary installment on youtube now!

A couple of weeks ago, us animalz flew out to Milan to play a show at The Rocket with ace Italian band ‘She Loves’.
It was IMMENSE fun!

Whilst we were there, MATT exposed a previously unknown encyclopedic knowledge of Michael Jackson, STUART found a fellow Smiths enthusiast, Martin had blistered feet after apparently ‘grafting’ carrying all the gear, LIZA wanted to party FAR after everyone else had fallen over, MARK somehow met someone from Derby and found new skills as an early hours, illegal, smoking barman, and RYAN was quite scared of flying.
